It’s TimeTo Pay The Fiddler

Cal Smith It’s Time To Pay The Fiddler Lyrics:
Well it’s
time to pay the fiddler
And it’s sad to know we’ve danced it all away

But the warm nights disappearing
Leaving nothing but the cold hard light
of day.

And it’s time to start erasing’
All the rainbows we’ve been chasing in our minds
We know there’s no way of making
Other ties on us
unravel and unwind.

Yes, it’s time to pay the fiddler
And today’s
the day the first instalment’s due,
For the rest of all my days
I wonder
why the maker mismatched me and you.

The Bible says it this way:

Galatians 6 : 7-8 7 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. 8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

The American nation’s credit rating has been downgraded for the first time in its history.  We have gone from a a stellar AAA rating to a AA+.  The ripple effects will felt in the American wallet soon if we do not change course.  The government is a microcosm of what is happening in the average American family.

Dave Ramsey put it like this to give us an example we can relate to.

“If the US Government was a family—they would be making $58,000 a year, spending $75,000 a year, & are $327,000 in credit card debt. They are currently proposing BIG spending cuts to reduce their spending to $72,000 a year. These are the actual proportions of the federal budget & debt, reduced to a level that we can understand.” — Dave Ramsey
The song on this post is Cal Smith’s “Time To Pay The Fiddler.”  It is really a cheating song about a couple who has been cheating on their spouses.  They have to call off the affair because they know what they are doing is wrong.  In our country it is time to pay the economic fiddler.  Our illicit  love affair with debt has been found out.  We now have to be responsible and end our love affair with debt.  She is a cruel mistress.

until next time,

if we are in debt,

end the affair
