Is God Trying To Tell Us Something PT 1

II Chronicles 7:12-16

“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices. 13 At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. 14Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 15 My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. 16 For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.

Is God trying to tell us something?  We pray for rain, but we get more drought.  We want to prosper, but our economy is deteriorating.  I do not want to sound like a prophet of doom, but it seems like God wants to get the attention of his people and this nation.  The word tells us in the above passage says he may withhold rain from us from time to time because of disobedience.  We have been praying and praying for rain here in Texas for the longest time to end this drought, but to no avail.

I do not speak for God or claim to be a prophet, but it seems that before we pray for rain, his church needs to repent, then can we pray for rain.  Last week Governor Rick Perry at  the expense of much criticism held a day of fasting and prayer at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX.  30,000 plus were in attendance.

It is my desire that this act of repentance will cause God to bring us rain.  As for me, I will repent and turn from  of my wickedness and stand with my governor and ask God in his mercy to send Texas and this entire nation some much-needed rain.
