Jesus and “Red Tails” Part II

This installment of “Jesus and ‘Red Tails'” has to do with protecting our families.  As men of God sometimes we may wonder if what we do as husbands, and fathers to our families matters.  We read many stories of great men doing heroic things in the papers.  We may wonder if things would have been different if we did not a wife and kids.  I am here to encourage you because being a faithful (keyword faithful) husband and father is one of the greatest things you can do for the kingdom of God.  Because in so doing you affect eternity.  Please watch the video and then read on.

PROTECT THE HEAVIES

There are many men doing great things in this world that are broadcast in the papers, TV, etc…   I am not denigrating that.  We need great men.  But our job as fathers and men is to “protect the heavies”.  By this I mean we are to be good fathers and husbands. We put away our desires and look toward the well being of our families just as Christ did for us.   This may not seem glamorous, but we signed up to follow orders.  God’s orders come to us from Ephesians chapters 5 and 6.  Eph 5: 25-26 says “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church.  he gave up his life for her (26) to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of his word.”  Verse 33  continues: “So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself….  ”    Eph 6: 4 declares: “Fathers, do not provoke our children to anger the way you treat them.  Rather bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.”

Men I encourage you.  We count our victories by the love we show our  wives.  By our children who we raise up in the fear and admonition of the Lord.  For what we do will not be uplifted in the papers, but rather ridiculed and mocked by society.  But God sees the importance of our work, and knows the lives we influence will not just affect the here and now, but eternity.  We do not just affect one generation, but our work as husbands and fathers affects eternity.  So to our last breath we spiritually fight for our families.  For lack of a better term. “we protect the heavies”.

God bless and protect you man of God

Fight for your families
