Is God Trying To Tell Us Something Pt 2
II Chronicles 7:12-16
“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices. 13 At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. 14Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 15 My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. 16 For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.
Last post We discussed that maybe God is trying this country something. Our country is going through a terrible drought. We have a political drought in that the president is showing no leadership, and the congress is only fighting. We have an economic drought because our credit rating has been lowered, unemployment is over 9 percent, and the country is in deep debt. We are in natural drought because many states have not had rain in a very long time, and the heat for much of the country is unbearable.
That is the bad news. The good news is that this thing can get turned around if we follow the prescription that God offers us. I warn you that the prescription will cure the disease of sin in our hearts, and when that is done then the country will be healed from its pestilence.
God says if his people, that is every believer in the LORD Jesus Christ will repent and turn from their sins and seek God, then will he look down from heaven and heal our land. It is not up to unbeliever, congress or the president to cure this dilemma. God puts it squarely on our shoulders. The question is are we willing to repent and die to self, or are we just going to be complainers, backbiters, and blamers of others.
Again, I am no prophet, nor do I claim to be, but if this scripture is correct, and i believe it is, then the opposite is also true. If my people do not turn and repent then the land will not be healed. We have been given a great responsibility by God to be the spiritual vanguard of this nation.
Before we look outward and complain about how ungodly this nation has become, let us look inward and ask ourselves have I turned from my God. I know we love God, but does our walk match our talk.
Even as a pastor I know there are times when I fall short. Being born a sinner does not help. Being saved does.
Children of God, let us fall on our face before HIM and repent. Let us turn from our wicked ways, and then he will heal our land. I believe the rain of revival is coming, and with it the healing of our nation
