G.O.L.F. and God: The Caddy (Pt 2)

A good caddy carries the clubs and advises on the right club selection

A good caddy will carry the golfer’s clubs and also advise the golfer on the proper club selection for a particular shot.  It is up to the golfer to accept or reject the golfers advice.  The word of God tells us in Matthew 11: 28=30

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Like a good caddy,  the Holy Spirit carries our burdens.  A caddy carries the bags with all its clubs and hands to the golfer the club needed to hit the proper shot.  So to does the Holy Spirit hand us the club or burden that we need to hit the right shot.  Our burden is light  because we only use one club at a time.  He carries the rest of the bag.

The Bible tells us that God does not give us more than we can handle.  He does not make us carry our own bag of clubs, but gives us His precious Spirit to help us along.  I know some are thinking, how can that be true if so many Christians are dying and suffering for their faith.

Before I continue please note that I am not making light of this topic, but only using golf as a metaphor for life.  In golf.  I am an amateur that has no business being on the PGA tour.  My skills are nowhere near the skills of my professional counterparts.  The same is true for many saints, those who suffer I believe are stronger and God knows what they can take.  Job was such a man.  That book in the Bible is all about the suffering and strength of one man.  Despite all the calamity the befell him, he still did not deny his God.   Our contemporary brothers and sisters of the suffering church are like the PGA (Powerful, Godly, &  anointed ).  God knows they can handle more, and even if martyred they will not deny their Savior, and they know in suffering for him and  even in dying for him,  they will also rule and reign with him.  They will get the ultimate prize of eternal life with Jesus.  The Holy Spirit gives them the necessary tools (club) to have victory in this life to be ready for the next life.

are you a member of the PGA?
