(Theology in Country Music) A Tribute to My Father
Honor your father and mother so that you’ll live a long time in the land that God, your God, is giving you.
My dad celebrated his 74th birthday this past week. He has alway been a positive influence on me my siblings for our entire lives. My dad is an example of a Godly man. He is quiet, unassuming, and God-fearing. In an age where many men leave their families or fail to take responsibility for the children they sire, my father has remained faithful to us and our mother. He has never wavered or failed us. Last year he and my mother celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary
My dad has been with us throughout the lives of his kids. He has advised us. supported us, counselled us, and sacrificed for us so we may have what he did not. In our family because our parents sacrifice and guidance, we have a Doctor in Education, a fireman, a Command Sargeant Major in the US. Army, and a minister.
Our heavenly Father is the same. He has never left nor forsaken us. He is always there for us. Through his son Jesus we havw every spiritual blessing.
This post has the song “That’s my Job” by Conway Twitty. Listen to the words, and you will see that the characteristics given to our dads are the same characteristics that God has. I know not everyone can have a positive earthly father, but through Christ we can all have a perfect heavenly father. God will take care of us because that’s HIS job. If you are in Christ, everything God does is because of You.
Thank you dad for doing your job to the best of your God-given ability. You are a man among men.
Love, Your Son
Greg.
