Another Cowboy Sunday

Cowboy Month has been extended for one more week at New Hope Christian Church.  This Sunday, March 6, 2011 service will be at 10:30 AM at the American Legion Hall at 305 E. Bowie St.  This Sunday is a special Sunday since we will be saying good-bye to our dear friends Bruce and Erin Alderman.  Bruce and Erin are Winter Texans and will be heading back home to New York.  Join us afterward for lunch as our church family will be bringing delicious covered dishes to help feed everyone.  Everyone is welcome, and everyone is invited.

The music will include the following hymns;  Uncloudy Day, I’ll Fly Away, Mansion on the Hilltop, It Is No Secret (What God Can Do), Old Rugged Cross, and Amazing Grace.

The Message is entitled:  Mutton Bustin’ and Bull Riding: Do You Know the Difference, based on the text from Romans 6: 22-23

22-23But now that you’ve found you don’t have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master.

We will be discussing how we have watered down the term of sin so much in our culture that wrongdoing is no longer sin.  Instead of repenting from our sins, we have now legitimized bad behavior so it is no longer sin in our eyes.  The Bible does have a different take on the matter.  No matter how much we try to dress it up, cover it up, or clean it up, sin is still sin.  But God has a solution to the sin problem. His name is Jesus.  Jesus came to die so our sins would be forgiven, and under his Lordship we can live a victorious life.

Please join us this Sunday as our desire is to feed you both spiritually and pysically.

God Bless and rejoice for this is the day that the LORD has made.

Yours in Christ
