Do’s and Dont’s of Sharing the Word

While on the golf course on a very cold day. So cold that I was the only one out there. While in prayer, I asked God for something to share with our Wednesday night cell group.  We had been studying the book of  Acts and learning from Paul on what was needed to share our faith with others.  As I was freezing,  a passage from  Acts chapter 8 came to my mind.  I felt as if the LORD gave me blue print on sharing the faith.  Here is a brief post on what I learned on that cold golf outing. In case your are interested I scored a 92.  If you are not interested I still shot a 92.

When sharing our faith we should be led by the Spirit of God.  I have been sharing with the church that we should ask God to give a burden to us for someone we can share our faith with.  We need to target our evangelism toward specific people in our lives, or to whomever the LORD directs.  Acts 8: 26-30 declares

“The Ethiopian Eunuch

26-28Later God’s angel spoke to Philip: “At noon today I want you to walk over to that desolate road that goes from Jerusalem down to Gaza.” He got up and went. He met an Ethiopian eunuch coming down the road. The eunuch had been on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and was returning to Ethiopia, where he was minister in charge of all the finances of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He was riding in a chariot and reading the prophet Isaiah.

29-30The Spirit told Philip, “Climb into the chariot.” Running up alongside, Philip heard the eunuch reading Isaiah and asked, “Do you understand what you’re reading?””

The Spirit of God directed Phillip to go to this man.  Ask God to direct you to someone with whom you can share your faith.  While you are in prayer seek HIM, and HE will give you someone to pray for, someone to share with,  someone to minister to.  God has charged us with the job of spreading his word to the world.  We have to do our part and share with those he has placed on our hearts.

Acts 9:10-12

“there was a disciple in Damascus by the name of Ananias. The Master spoke to him in a vision: “Ananias.”

   “Yes, Master?” he answered.

11-12“Get up and go over to Straight Avenue. Ask at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus. His name is Saul. He’s there praying. He has just had a dream in which he saw a man named Ananias enter the house and lay hands on him so he could see again.””

Again God asks one of his faithful to go and share with someone.  Today as you spend time with our LORD and Savior, ask him who he wants you to have a burden for.  God wants to use you for his glory.  What greater glory than to share a life-giving message to someone who needs to hear it.  More to come in the next post.
